Sometimes all we need after a long day is a warm hug from our loved ones, which seems to take all our worries away. But when such a gesture comes from a primate, which is notorious for playing tricks with its long tail, it can be all the more surprising.A langur’s unexpected visit to a repair shop in Odisha has won hearts on social media, showing the long-tailed monkey giving a heartfelt hug to the shopkeeper while he remains still with fright.
Langur enters a shop and unexpectedly hugs the shopkeeper
A video showing an unexpected reaction from a langur has been winning hearts online. The video shared on X shows the animal walking up inside a shop. It then sits on the counter, followed by the most heart-melting moment, when it moves ahead and sits on the shopkeeper’s lap, resting its head against his chest. The shopkeeper stays calm, and the langur remains close to him for a few seconds, and he neither tries to push it away nor makes any sudden movement. The animal then moves off peacefully. Close by, another man in a yellow shirt can be seen quietly watching the whole thing as he quickly moves out of the shop.
Social media users weigh in with hilarious comments responses
The shopkeeper’s composure caught viewers’ eyes, and many imagined how they would have reacted in his place. According to the report, one user was clearly charmed and wrote: “That is so very sweet, who wouldn’t hesitate to give that cute little monkey a hug.”Another user hilariously wrote, “Thought he was gonna get robbed or attacked but a mate was just checking in on him 😂”Another wrote, “Peeli tshirt wala aise jaan bacha ke bhaga jaise bandar nahi sher ne hamla kia ho”, a third user added, “Tumhe kaise pata mai paracetamol kha raha hu. Ghar me jhaak rahi ho kya?”Another user had a more informative take, “This is a Hanuman Langur: black face, black hands and feet, and a tail longer than its body. It mostly eats leaves, and has a multi-chambered stomach like a cow to digest them.So chargers and cables are not on the menu. The ones that snatch your stuff are usually Rhesus Macaques, and they are scared of langurs. Delhi once used langurs to chase macaques away from government buildings. So this isn’t a thief. It’s the shop’s new security guard.”
